Jungle Safari – Wildlife
Nepal is a land of extreme contrasts in climate and geography. It has
a unique topography ranging from Terai low lands with sub-tropical jungles
to arctic conditions in the Himalayan highlands. Within a mere 150 kilometers,
the land rises from near sea level in the south to over 8000 meters
in the north. This, together with monsoon rainfall along the south facing
slopes, has resulted in compacting virtually all climate zones found
on the planet into one country. As a result, Nepal has been endowed
with a huge diversity of climatic zones providing a home for a host
of plants, birds, and animals. Nepal’s famous National Park system
is designed to preserve this amazing natural heritage.
ROYAL CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK
Royal Chitwan National Park is a wildlife and cultural haven, unique
in terms of the rare species, such as the Royal Bengal tiger, deer,
rhino, bear, and wild boar, as well as the fascinating Tharu tribe,
whose lifestyle has remained unchanged for several hundred years. The
Royal Chitwan National Park is a large area of low, heavily forested
hills bordering India on the south.
There are crocodiles in the rivers and a wealth of birds. Several jungle
camps have been created to offer the tourists comfortable accommodation,
elephant-back safaris for wildlife viewing, and canoeing and nature
walks with highly trained naturalists. The camps are rigorously regulated
to avoid environmental and habitat disturbances. They are easily reached
by air or road. A three day trip will provide an unforgettable wildlife
viewing experience.
Our clients often choose to continue the trip from Royal Chitwan National
Park to Lumbini, the birth place of the Buddha, an important pilgrimage
site. Others proceed directly to Pokhara.
