Everest Flight

Higlights

The one hour mountain flight takes you within camera range of some of the highest peaks in the world. The aircraft takes off from Kathmandu airport and heads eastward and almost immediately, the peaks come into view. The firest peak that appears on your horizon is the majestic Gosaithan (8,013m). To its right, appears Dorje Lhakpa (6,966m), looking like a massive figure of 8, lying prone and covered in snow. To its right is Phurbi Chyachu, which looms over the Kathmandu Valley. Next is Choba Bhamare, relatively small (5,933 m), but singularly stubborn as it remains unconquered to this day. Then comes Mt. Gaurishankar (7,134 m), standing but sharp and conspicuous. Hindus believe that Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati protect this mountain. As the flight moves further east, a succession of other peaks follow – Melungtes (7,023 m) with a plateau-like top, Chugimago (6,297 m) still remains to be scaled, Mt. Number (6,956 m), Karyolung, (6,511 m), and Cho-Oyu (8,021 m), the sixth highest in the world. The last and most exciting stretch of the flight takes you close to Gyanchungkang (7, 852 m) still considered an extermely thugh climb. To its right is Pumori (7,161 m) and Nuptse (7,855 m). And finally you come face to face to face with Mt. Everest (8,848 m), the world’s tallest and most enigmatic mountain.
